“Bettering our best” in Washington, DC at the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professional’s (NAHREP) 2017 Housing Policy & Leadership Academy; taking on Capitol Hill to protect sustainable and affordable homeownership for ALL!
RE/MAX Gold Development Manager in Midtown, Gina LaPlaca, along with Maria Castellanos and Manny ‘Sir’ Toledo from RE/MAX Gold Natomas and Robert Cosgaya, RE/MAX Gold Midtown, met with leaders from around the country on Capitol Hill this week to discuss public policy issues affecting our industry and how we can work together to protect and improve those key policy issues. Gina said the level of leadership at this event was truly remarkable. RE/MAX Int’l is an Annual sponsor of NAHREP.
“The entire week was a true reminder that though we may each have differing opinions and beliefs, especially when it comes to politics, if we work together, we truly can achieve more,” Gina said. “Success doesn’t happen by accident. It takes careful planning and diligent execution. I am proud to be a leader in this industry and I am proud to be a leader with a voice. I am a Realtor(R) and I am RE/MAX Gold.”
RE/MAX Gold representatives heard from relevant speakers such as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Ben Carson, one of the most powerful women in US politics, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, the Immediate Past and Present Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Former Chairman and Regulator of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFBP), as well as Funding Panels with Diversity and Outreach Leaders from Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Chase, Quicken and New American Funding.
After a productive day of lobbying on Capitol Hill on Wednesday and a wonderful visit with our beloved Congresswoman Doris Matsui, Gina and associates had the honor of sitting in on a House of Representatives session, as well as a Senate Hearing presided over by the Vice-President of the United States, Mike Pence.
“Regardless of one’s political views, it truly is quite incredible to realize the amount of history and opportunity surrounding us at that moment.” Gina said.
